Nominees were selected by VES members via events hosted by its nine sections - Australia, Bay Area, London, Los Angeles, Montreal, New York, New Zealand, Toronto and Vancouver.
There is no surprise when we find Star Wars: The Force Awakens leading the film nominations with seven (7) -but perhaps the surprise is that the leader is NOT a film but a TV show, Game of Thrones with nine (9) noms.
We already know the 10 films shortlisted for an Oscar nomination and in this group only appear in the Visual Effects category Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Mad Max: Fury Road and The Martian. Then from the Supporting Visual Effects we find The Walk and The Revenant. So, we can wonder -until next Thursday- if those five films could get an Oscar nod in VFX. Somehow imagine that the infamous Bear will make The Revenant to get a nomination, lol.
The VES Awards ceremony will be held on February 2nd at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Some of the nominations made me recall the scenes and my memory worked so good that clearly recall the great ones but can't help to wonder why awful San Andreas has so many nominations as one of the things I really disliked were the visual effects, sigh.
